Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the UGBC University Affairs updates section of the website. Our mission as a department is to work closely with administrators forming policies and tackling long term goals. Here you can expect to find out the latest news on what is happening in the department, upcoming programming, and major policy issues we are working on. If there are any questions about the following, do not hesitate to email Executive Director, Justin Pike (

EVENTS:
- Jesuit Heritage Week (October 5-8) Hanyin Cheng and Sarah Miller, the Directors of Student Formation, are hard at work putting together a week of informative panels, talks, and activities highlighting the Jesuit heritage at Boston College with the aim of provoking in depth and meaningful conversations between all students and our often mysterious Jesuit friends. Stay tuned for specific event updates once they are confirmed. - 350.org Events (October 24th) The organization, 350.org, aims to create awareness of the all important number "350." This number represents the ideal amount of CO2 in the air in parts per million. We have begun planning a celebration on this day and will be working with various campus organizations to co-sponsor events for the weekend. Contact Amanda Daniel (

POLICY:
- Advising & Career Services Work has begun and will continue on reevaluating and improving the advising system at BC. We hope to create an advisor review mechanism similar to PEPs, feature a "major meeting" where students can discuss major options with fellow classmen in those respective majors, and implement a formal peer advising system. These are lofty goals but with diligent and consistent work and your continued support, these will become more realistic. - Service Trip Endowment Accomplishing this goal will require the support of a number of different on-campus groups and organizations as well as the endorsement of the administration. We will work to create a network of service groups that can approach this issue with fresh eyes. - Core Curriculum Brian Jacek (

) are hard at work meeting with administrators discussing the current core curriculum and changes that may be advantageous to the student body. Over the course of the year they will be working closely with countless individuals to look over the current courses and see which classes can be added or modified to est serve the student body.
