The mission of the UGBC Senate is “to serve as representatives of the student body, serve as liaisons between the student organizations, the undergraduate government and the student body, secure the protection of student rights, interests and free expression, and investigate and openly discuss any matter which affects and promotes the general welfare of the student body of Boston College or elements thereof.” Senate is a great way to get involved in UGBC in so many ways; Senators can pursue their own projects, forge relationships with the administration, but they also have the unique opportunity to listen to the voice of the entire student body and help bring its ideas to life. - Courtney Finkel, 2012 As a freshman, coming to a new community and campus can be challenging. I met students from different places, social groups, and classes I would not have encountered otherwise. Moreover, I got to interact regularly with upperclassmen Senators and other UGBC members who have become great friends and mentors. Senate has given me a more meaningful, engaging and exciting freshman year. - Derek Lo, 2012
