BCisGREEN WEEK BCisGreen Week is a collaborative effort to support sustainability at Boston College! During the week of February 15th to 19th, 2009, join BC students, faculty, and administrators and help celebrate “green” initiatives the University has already accomplished, while promoting the backing for sustainability in the short- and long-term future! Events will include an energy conservation contest between residence halls, green giveaways at the BC vs Duke basketball game, a “Barack Obama: Energy and Environmental Policy” forum, the Green Career Conference, speakers, pub series, movies and more! MID-WINTER MADNESS On Thursday, February 12th at 9:00PM, our Men's and Women's Hockey and Women's Basketball teams will come together in the Conte Power Gym to gear up for the final push of their seasons! With tough ACC opponents on the horizon, both squads will be doing everything they can to make that final push towards their NCAA tournaments...and they need your help! The first 800 students in attendance will get a FREE, ONE OF A KIND SuperFan Hockey or Basketball JERSEY! TASTIES PATRIES WITH JORG AMSLER Come to the Heights Room on Thursday, February 12th, from 9:30PM until 12:30AM and take part in a fun, late night pastry presentation with Jorg Amsler! Along with creating an amazing decorative cake, Jorg Amsler will teach students how to make easy desserts to try at home. RECYCLEMANIA AT BOSTON COLLEGE Help Boston College to reduce waste and recycle! RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities on campus. Over a 10-week period, schools report recycling and trash data which are then ranked. Each week, participating schools watch how their results fluctuate against other schools. BARACK OBAMA'S ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY PANEL As part of UGBC's campus-wide BCisGreen Week, professors from all over Boston will convene in Devlin 008 on Monday, February 16th to discuss President Obama's energy and environmental policies. Join Professors Charlie Lord (of BC's Environmental Studies Program), Charles Derber (of BC's Sociology Department), Herman Karl (of MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning), Margarita Sapozhnikov and Bruce Tsuchida (of BC's Economics Department) from 7:00PM until 9:00PM next Monday for a panel moderated by the New York Times' Kate Galbraith.
